Engaging Environments was hired in for the initial build-out of Hopworks Urban Brewery. Working alongside the architect & builder Roy Ettinger and his son & owner of HUB Christian Ettinger was quite a pleasure and a privilege. Extensive design and plenty of good old fashioned hard work went into creating this cozy family friendly eco-brewery.
The structure, originally built in 1948 to be a showroom for bulldozers, it later served as the home office of Sunset Fuel Company for over 40 years until Hopworks purchased it in 2004. The brewery and pub were built out with green-building principles as a main focus. The building was not demolished but deconstructed and rebuilt, repurposing as many of the original materials as possible. Features include bespoke polished copper tables, custom shelving, storage units & benches made from the salvaged fir beams, some mighty fine vintage finish trim and a multitude of steel assemblies. We are proud to have helped plant a firm footing for this now deeply rooted Portland establishment and continue to be regular patrons of Hubworks, in fact we might even be there now..
